The Ashtabula River, Smolen-Gulf Bridge, Riverview Bridge, Indian Trails Day. A beautiful nature spot. A beautiful day. Ashtabula is proud of its covered bridges. There are 17 driveable covered bridges in the county, though none are as large as the Smolen-Gulf bridge, which is the longest covered bridge in the United States. (613 feet , 182.9 meters)

Indian Trails, also known as Indian Trails Park, comprises 369 acres. The trail runs along the Ashtabula River from Penn Central Railway in the north to the National Guard rifle range in the south
An Educational and Informational pavilion for Indian Trails Park stands near the Smolen Gulf Bridge. Here resides info on the Ashtabula Scenic River, The Ashtabula Township Parks, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, The Lake Erie Scenic By-way, Covered bridges around the county, museums and plenty of historical facts.
We took many photos and were truly awed by the loveliness of the place. And we only ventured through a small part of it.
We will eventually experience the whole thing.
